I’ve always known the presence of a pet (except when living in the nurses home), and the main creatures have been cats. Originally there was Susie, a domestic short hair tabby cat who tolerated two small children playing with her. Next door were Twinkle a large male cat and Tommy a spaniel.
Sadly one day Susie did not return and we never discovered what happened to her. My parents must have decided that a new cat was required and through a colleague of mum’s we acquired Honey. She was a female ginger cat which was unusual at the time. Honey had favourite chairs and no matter who was sitting in one of them she’d stare you out of it.
My sister had a Guinea pig that was provided with a run in the garden for nice days, and lived in the garage the rest of the time. Dad actually acquired an aquarium for tropical fish. They are high maintenance and lasted some while until the living room needed remodelling and the cabinet he created had to go. He had hankered after having a parrot but go nowhere with that.
Eventually I met Megan, who had a cat so a fresh set of cats have come our way. And now we have a grand-dog. It’s all go when the puppy visits so we have manage the relationship with Max and Bella carefully. Below are Misty, Bella, Lulu - who lived beyond 21 years, Sooty, Mila the grand-dog, and Max.
