Continuing the counting down the working days series.
Early life started in south London, being born opposite Clapham South underground station in what was then the South London Hospital for Women and Children. It’s now a block of flats with a Tesco Express at street level. Dad was at home in bed that morning (no presence allowed at the birth) and didn’t phone so he was in big trouble when arriving for visiting hour to find I’d arrived some hours earlier. Restricted visiting times were very much in use and parents of children in hospital were often only allowed an hour to visit on a few days a week. Fortunately these things gradually changed. I’m about 18 months old here, with my dad Ron.
